I've never had any issues with it as a maintenance tool, but as for Deeper, if they are equally good it's not enough for me to feel right giving high ratings for both. I just think that both purposes should not be included in the same app which is going beyond the scope of my comment. I know other similar apps like to do both things as well, but they do a better job at separating maintenance stuff and hidden features stuff. ![]() But for my own use, it's always been for maintenance purposes and when it comes to using an app that does "reveals hidden features of the OS", I totally think of different types of apps as that is something different all together. In my opinion, Onyx is more of a maintenance app, however it does several other nice things as well. I am just feeling confused on this app on many levels. Who doesn't love free apps especially when theyre solid and good at what they do, so please don't get me wrong on that point. ![]() Just to name a few things, why is it given high ratings, why does it even exist (it would make sense if it was called something like Onyx Lite for example), why are both apps free. That being said, if it is really just a light version of Onyx, I cannot honestly know where to begin what to question about it. download my apps later after I get my new Mac Yes, as long as its within. Already being a user of the Onyx app for a few years, I was also surprised simply for not being aware of this app.Īfter checking the tabs and the various features it showed, I quickly uninstalled it, since it pretty much seemed like Onyx but lighter maybe, or rather the same thing but not as many features that Onyx does. Shortly after to my surprise, I saw how much it looked nearly exactly like Onyx - my fault for not paying attention to the developer of the app. Although from this site, there aren't too many others that it compares to, being that it was free made it the top choice to try out. A lot of indie houses don't do that these days.I downloaded this app based on its reviews and the date of its last release, which compared to the other apps in the same category, seemed like one of the best ones. ![]() I will say though, I do greatly appreciate how freely they offer access to 10.4/5/6-compatible versions of their apps. And for most of the functionality I'd use MacPilot for, I personally use Onyx and/or TinkerTool. Not to slag on Koingo or MacPilot (I had one of its early versions in the early-00s from a MacHeist bundle), and I'm sure they put a lot of work into MacPilot, but as a consumer I strongly prefer apps which don't require online activation and don't have an activation limit. The main thing about MacPilot for me is just how locked down Koingo Software's apps are: Online DRM activation with only a limited amount of activations per license. IIRC MacPilot never had this or at least, if it did have support for third-party apps, it doesn't seem to now. The thing with Secrets was that it didn't just have hidden preferences for the Finder and Apple's apps it had them for a whole bevy of third-party apps too. ![]() I thought it was already a pretty well-known app around here?

He’s not above letting people die to make a point, and unbelievably, even killed a human in Age of Extinction (it wasn’t exactly a good human, but that’s a line no one could have imagined Optimus crossing). His methods seem overly sadistic, his sense of mercy and compassion nowhere to be found. It has been utterly bizarre to see the movie version of Optimus slowly devolve into a cold, ruthless killer. Created in the mold of such morally pure characters as Superman and Captain America, he’s summed up nicely by his longtime motto: “ Freedom is the right of all sentient beings.” He traditionally serves not only as a military leader to his Autobots, but as a wise, compassionate father figure, always ensuring his troops never embrace the hatred that defines the Decepticons, fighting only to defend those who cannot defend themselves. The movie awkwardly leans into the joke, and it’s hard to take Devastator seriously as a threat much past that point. The Constructicon combiner is generally one of the most fearsome forces in Transformers lore, and while he does dish out plenty of destruction in Revenge Of The Fallen, all anyone really remembers is the fact that he had two wrecking balls dangling between his legs, simulating a certain portion of male anatomy. But the one that fans are still shaking their heads over is Devastator. Reimagining Jetfire as a crusty old Decepticon who’s inexplicably been hanging around Earth for centuries only to kill himself to revive Optimus Prime was… certainly a choice. Revenge Of The Fallen pulled this off a few times. It was also the moment when Bay mastered the ability to simultaneously thrill and revolt longtime fans of the franchise by introducing long beloved characters with, well, let’s call them “unique” characteristics. Revenge Of The Fallen set up all sorts of unfortunate precedents for the Transformers films: incoherent plotting, grueling run times, and deeply unlikable characters, just to name a few. It didn’t work, and the resulting film ended up calcifying the series’ reputation as movies that rely on visceral thrills and nostalgia. Michael Bay padded that treatment with more action and humor in an attempt to hide the fact the story didn’t really make much sense. Due to the 2007 Writers Guild of America Strike, writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman had to turn in a plot treatment in lieu of a finished script. That’s because, for the most part, it didn’t. ![]() A formless, joyless slog of a movie, it feels like it has no idea what kind of story it’s trying to tell. It was a fun, silly movie where the plot wasn’t exactly bulletproof, but it featured strong performances (particularly from Shia LaBeouf and John Turturro) and felt like a solid first chapter.Īll that tentative goodwill was flushed down the toilet by Revenge Of The Fallen. Critics were never particularly wowed by it, but they didn’t savage it either. It’s difficult to remember now, but the original Michael Bay Transformers movie was, for the most part, warmly received. This might ultimately feel like a minor offense (certainly some level of redesign was required to bring the robots into the real world), but it set the tone for the franchise. A treatise could be written on the controversy of Optimus Prime’s flame heavy redesign. Bumblebee went from a cute, lovable VW Beetle to a mouthless, alien-looking muscle car. Morphing the sleek, regal Starscream into some sort of hulking ape-like creature was galling. Bay implemented a busy, overly complicated look for the Autobots and Decepticons, somehow simultaneously washing them in gaudy detail and robbing them of any character.Ī few individual examples stung deeper than others. Gone were the smooth, sleek, brightly-colored designs that had defined the franchise since Generation 1. That elation evolved into something approaching dread when the initial designs for the cinematic robots in disguise began to surface. ![]() When news broke in 2006 that Michael Bay would be directing a live action Transformers movie, fans were understandably elated. ![]() One of the key elements is Illustrator’s Envelope Distortion tool, allowing text to be twisted and skewed intelligently to fit specific spaces.Īffinity Designer allows vectors to be skewed to match faces of customisable isometric grids (Image credit: Beth Crane) Illustrator is integrated with Adobe Fonts, allowing users to preview Adobe fonts in situ before downloading them, and in the program itself, Illustrator possesses text editing abilities that Affinity Designer simply doesn’t have. The official GTA 6 trailer released in December 2023 confirmed that Lucia’s character is indeed the game’s protagonist, and that she does commit crimes and have some kind of romantic relationship with a white man (whose name has not yet been officially confirmed).
